San Angelo Community Medical Center
is the lead organization for

One million car seats inspected by Safe Kids USA.
Our mission is preventing unintentional childhood injuries.
Safe Kids is a internationally affiliated program dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injuries and accidents. SACMC is the lead organization for the Safe Kids San Angelo. Some of the resources Safe Kids provides to help families include:
- Car seat checks by certified car seat technicians for parents. Studies show as many as four out of five car seats are incorrectly installed.
- Technicians on call every day to properly install car seats.
- Information to help prevent accidental choking and drowning, the top two causes of infant death.
- Fire safety and sports safety information.
- "Preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome" literature to new moms.
- Education on the proper use of various baby equipment to help you stay accident-free.
San Angelo's program is just one of 30 nationwide whose quality merited a brand new van to conduct child safety seat events called "Buckle Ups". The van travels throughout West Texas educating parents and giving away hundreds of car seats to children.
The Safe Kids San Angelo works with the Safe Kids Worldwide Campaign. Our affiliation links the San Angelo Safe Kids Coalition to advanced injury prevention information. Call us at 325-947-6130 or visit www.usa.safekids.org.
