Room service at Community
...gourmet food, when you want it.
SACMC is one of a handful of premier medical facilities in the nation able to offer this higher degree of service, room service.
Community is the only medical facility in our area providing this patient-friendly benefit.
In our program, you order the food you want, when you want it, limited only by any diet restrictions imposed by your medical condition. Advanced computer software tracks a patient's dietary restrictions at the time of order. Visitors also are allowed to order food in this manner. This service allows patients and their guests to choose from a menu that includes everything from local favorites to gourmet entrees. With SACMC's new service, the guest can call in an order just like room service at a hotel and pay for the meal when it is delivered.
Each meal is cooked specifically for the patient when the patient orders it. Meals can be delivered any time from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; delivery takes about 30 minutes.
"With the old trayline system, we only served food at scheduled times. The wonderful thing about the room service concept is patients order what they want when they want it," according to Henry Wiens, director of food services at Community and a chef trained at the famed Culinary Institute of America. "Another benefit is there is more selection with a restaurant-style menu. Instead of only three options, patients and their guests can pick from 30 or 40 options."
According to Wiens, "The new menu-style room service has been a big success. We are proud to have introduced this patient-friendly service to our area."
