Patient Information

San Angelo Community Medical Center offers a variety of services to  make your hospital stay as comfortable as possible.

Chapel
The chapel is located on the first floor and is open 24 hours a day. It features an interfaith stained glass window, The Spirit of Health, representing eight major denominations. The SACMC Auxiliary donated the glass for the enjoyment and inspiration of patients, visitors and staff.

Clergy
If you wish to see the hospital chaplain or a clergy member from your church, please notify your nurse or a member of the SACMC Auxiliary.

Community Cafe
Our cafe is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef Henry Wiens, trained by Culinary Institute of America, serves a vareity of nutritious meals and features freshly prepared soups, a fruit and salad bar, freshly baked bread and desserts and tasty snacks.

Discharge
After notification of discharge by your physician, your nurse will give you a discharge instruction seat regarding medications, follow-up appointments and other instructions specific to your diagnosis. You also will receive a discharge slip that you must have cleared by the main admissions office before leaving.

Education
A variety of resources are available for patient education. Ask your nurse for assistance. Resources include brochures, community resources, direct teaching by an appropriate care team member, drug information sheets, group classes, referrals to programs and video tapes.

Flowers and Mail
Deliveries are made to your room by the SACMC Auxiliary. Flowers will not be delivered to patients in ICU. Mail received after discharge will be forwarded to your home address. Messages sent via e-mail will be delivered.

Gift Shop
The shop, located on the first floor near the hospital entrance, offers an assortment of gifts, flowers, plants, cards and personal care items. Staffed by the SACMC Auxiliary, the shop is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. All proceeds benefit SACMC patients, their families and the community.

Newspapers
Newspapers are available at the hospital entrance foyer.

Overnight Guests
An overnight guest may stay in a patient's room. Our pediatric staff encourages a parent or family member to stay with a hospitalized child. SACMC provides a sofa bed, pillows, sheets and blankets for our guests' comfort.

Pet Therapy
Hospital therapy dogs visit patients on a weekly basis to improve healing and to relieve stress. Each dog is licensed and trained for pet therapy.

Parking
Visitor parking is available in the front parking lot on Knickerbocker Road. Visitors to the outpatient services or obstetrical unit may park in the back parking lot on Executive Drive. We ask that visitors not park in areas reserved for physicians, employees, emergency vehicles or clergy.

Room Service
Patients and guests may select from a variety of menus designed to suit their treatment and nutrional needs. Each meal is cooked specifically for the patient when it is ordered. Meals can be delivered any time from 6 a.m. to 6:30  p.m.; delivery takes about 30 minutes.

Smoking
San Angelo Community Medical Center is a non-smoking facility.

Telephones
Telephones are available in every patient room and may be called directly. Hospital policy prohibits long distance calls being charged to your room; however calling cards are available in the gift shop.
Telephones for hearing-impaired persons are available upon request at the nurses' station.

Televisions

Televisions are available in hospital rooms for the enjoyment of our patients. VCRs are available upon request.

Visitors
The hospital recognizes visitors as an important part of your recovery. We recommend that visitors be limited to two at a time. Children of visitors should not be left unattended in the lobby.
General visiting hours: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
ICU visiting hours: 9 a.m., 1 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
(Restricted to two immediate family members for 30 minutes)
